1. Web-based Teaching and Learning. The WebQuest Model |
| Is it possible to integrate the constructivist learning principles, the project-based methodology of education and the Web browsing to develop a valuable teaching-learning process in the classroom?. The WebQuest model provides an answer. | |
2. Beginning of a WebQuest Project |
| What previous considerations must we bear in mind before approaching the development of a WebQuest project?. Can we use already existing WebQuest activities?. The "Introduction" of the activity must be realistic and motivating. | |
3. Task design |
| The "Task" in a WebQuest is equivalent to the final exercise the students must accomplish after carrying out a search and manipulation of information in the Web. The election of the task is conclusive as regards the motivation arisen in the student and will determine the kind of cognitive abilities that they are going to carry. | |
4. Process design |
| The "Process" section in a WebQuest indicates the steps the students must follow to perform their tasks, as well as some guidelines as far as the organization of the work is concerned. It is a key point for a correct organization of the task, guiding the students in a specific way about the steps to be carried in their tasks. | |
5. Assessment design |
| The students must clearly know what criteria will be used to assess the different aspects of both the development of the activity and the products generated as a result of a WebQuest. | |
6. Conclusion of the activity |
| The "Conclusion" section will bring a perfect end to the development of the WebQuest activity. It is important, as well, to write up a didactic guide for the use of other teachers and to include a references and credits section. | |
7. Devising the presentation format |
| It is important that the final presentation of the activity will be attractive, taking care of its contents at the same time. There are different possibilities to generate the presentation format and to improve its style. | |
8. WebQuest review and refinement |
| Every creative process carries another one of final verification and revision of the parts that have been less satisfactory. | |
9. Application process in the classroom |
| And now what? This is a good moment to think over the role of the WebQuest methodology in our classroom: How often must we resort to it?; How to structure the inclusion of the ICT in the set of the Standard Project in our center?; What must we bear in mind when taking the WebQuest in the classroom? | |
